Get 1, Give 1

I have been pushing this on my kids since they were born. So for the last 18 years I have been living this rule. When you get something you consider a want and not a necessity, you must give an equivalent away. So clothing is a prime example. When you get a less shirt you must give a shirt away. Accumulation is evil. Its takes up space and creates a society of more. Only in the first world do you have to rent  storage units for your stuff. If you aren’t using it, its not really needed.
Teach it to the kids, they get it. Adults are hard to rewire.

About hamvelji

Have been promoting live less, do more since 1996. Changed my views as I became a parent and realized I could help the world by shaping my children's philosophy of life.
